Well, I think I've given up on trying to find the JBL S-center and moving on to try to find a center channel that would be a good match with the 2 pair S38II's. I've thought about another pair of S38II'sf or the center/rear center but they are too big. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Jason

    Brandon,

What are you looking to get for it? Are you willing to end it early for the right price?

If that does not work, go for an s26 pair even.

Another recommendation is you could use the S36 for Center duties.

    Read JBL product description from 5 September 03 / JBL - CEDIA 2003 - dba-newsline ...

All JBL S-Series speakers are timbre-matched so the above option will work.

I heard from some using all S36-IIPM's around w/sub and love the REF Calibrated HT sound, ... how little space they take up around their Plasma Monitor / HT room and how easy it is to wall mount them.

    Phil,

Is the S36IIPM in silver a new speaker?

It was listed in that CEDIA 2003 news release.

Why would they come out with a new S36 and discontinue the rest of the Studio line?

Hey Norman, here's what JBL Internet Support Specialist emailed me (Oct. '03) explaining their preliminary plans ...

So, JBL introduced the S36IIPM - same as previous S36II but with a new color to blend in with most Plasma Cabinet 'silver' color.

The 'newer' S(?)-Series will sport their PRO Studio Monitor like 1" Pure Titanium dome tweeter w/EOS waveguide.

Wouldn't the EC35 be the next logical choice? It is almost identical to the S-CenterII.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to find a CC for 2 sets of ND310II's. At this point I'm really leaning towards the EC35.

Is the EC35 a two way and the S-CenterII is a 3 way?

No, the EC35 is a 3 way. It is identical in every respect to the S-CenterII. The only difference I can see is that the S-CenterII has a 1" tweeter and and a 4" midrange.
    The EC35 has a 3/4" tweeter and a 3" midrande.
    Both have 5 1/4" subs.

    All specs are otherwise identical.
I just spent the last hour searching and looking for an S-centerII. Nobody has these in stock anymore.
So I'll probably end up going with the EC35.
I phone Visions and I can get it for $300.00 CAD. Which isn't too bad because MSRP is $299.00 US.

OK, went into Best Buy last night and asked them to check for the JBL S-centerII in all the stores in our area. There was none. They then checked other "districts" which are outstate (MN) and found 1 in a Wisconsin store. They then said I would need to drive to that store to get it and they could not send it from store to store since it was out of their "district". I left. Found the Wisconsin store's digits, talked to a manager, the 1 they had was a floor model and they are boxing it up, shipping it to my local store where I can pick it up. So my point, go to your local store and have them search inventory for one in their district and all other districts and see if they will send it from store to store, if not find out where it is and call them yourself...you may just get lucky. By the way, I have a letter to Best Buy corporate about the "no out-of-district" store transfer "policy", I have a few buddies that work there, let's see what happens.

Nice leg work - Jason! You'll love the 98% seamless R > L and L > R transitions across the front channels! (100% would be identical speakers).

I just noticed that someone is selling a NEW JBL Studio S- center II on Ebay in a 3 Day auction.

This item can not be found in stores, I know since I have been looking for one for a friend. He just bought it used.

    Ebay Item number: 3072346561

It must have been just posted since I did not find it on a search. I received an email from the seller.

Never mind what I said. They just emailed me saying it was not in stock.

This is 6 days after I did a "buy it now" and paid via paypal right away.

WHY WAS IT ON AUCTION IF THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK??? They had 94 listed. These people suck.

The place is Yoshi's World (or something like that) on Ebay. I will never buy anything from them again.

The S36 as surround speakers are simply amazing. I put on the dolby EX trailer, and I swear it sounded like I had a surround back speaker connected.

I used to have a surround back speaker connected, but I moved my theater to the living room until the basement is remodeled. So I don't have a surround back speaker back there any more, but these speakers are so excellent, it didn't seem that the surround back speaker was gone.

    I totally recommend the S36.!!!!

    My speaker setup

    S-center
    S38 mains
    S36 surrounds
    svs 25-31pci

    (also have S26 mains/surr, and N-26 mains/surr, N-center)
