CEC related issues (1 Viewer)

I have been having an ongoing problem where after using our blu ray player, then turning it off, we have a struggle trying to get cable TV back on the system. First, when the player is powered down, the TV will revert to TUNER. So far, this may be normal since the cable box is non CEC so the TV 'thinks' it has no other valid signal from HDMI. Next, if the receiver was in use, or we turn it on, we 'force' it back to cbl/sat mode from bd player mode, where the STB is hooked up. But now, when we try to return the TV to HDMI2, which is where the receiver is hooked up, the TV source jumps ship down to bd player, starting the bd player sequence all over again, forcing us to repeat all we just did. Frequently, we will get lucky and after a couple of cycles of this the TV will NOT jump down but will remain on HDMI2 and we can finally receive cable again. However, all too often we are forced to cycle it more times, often playing whack-a-mole with the receiver and TV remotes to try to get some stasis where we can wrest control of the system. Worst of all is when we just get a blue screen from the receiver showing it is set to cbl/sat but yet there will be no cable signal and we then must unplug the TV to reboot it, set the source to HDMI2, and we get cable back. As you can see this quite a hassle, especially when all else about the system works perfectly.
Sorry for the long winded post but this is not the easiest thing to explain and I have not seen this issue ANYWHERE on the Web. Thanks in advance.
