The new SACD releases of early Elton John albums, along with the RCA Living Stereo classical music series on SACD. Those are getting the heaviest rotation in my system at the moment.

Tegan & Sara - So Jealous
    The Killers
    Shivaree - Who's got Trouble

Those that say that music is dead - must be listening to the radio! There are some seriously good albums out there. The trick is finding them.

The new Jack Johnson CD, "In Between Dreams." He's got such a good vibe.

Modest Mouse - Moon & Antarctica

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism

    Snow Patrol - Final Straw

Bob Dylan - The Times they are A-Changin' (now tied with Nashville Skyline as my favorite Dylan album.. With God on our Side is great great stuff)

    Franz Ferdinand - s/t

i've been spending way too much money on relatively unknown (to me) bands lately.. but its such good music. I just hope I feel the same way 3 or 4 years from now.

I blind bought The Mars Volta's "Deloused in the Comatorium" a few weeks ago and can't stop listening. These are the best sounding SACDs I own. They have really upped my appreciation of Elton John and his long-time producer, Gus Dudgeon.

There's good stuff out there. Depends on your tastes. Right now been listening to Blue Merle, Amos Lee and Howie Day. Blue Merle sound a bit like Coldplay with perhaps an extremely small hint of blue grass thrown in. I had the pleasure of seeing Amos Lee (amoslee.com) in a very small club a couple of mos. back. Perhaps 50 people in the place. He has been opening for Dylan on the west coast and will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 23. I would call his music folk with some soul thrown in. On his 1st Blue Note album relased a couple of weeks back, Norah Jones plays piano on one cut and back-up vocals on another. Stuff does not have to be expensive. Picked up Blue Merle at Best Buy a few weeks back for $6.99. Howie Days last album (deluxed edition) was on sale last week at Best Buy for $7.99. Amos Lee's album was on sale at Tower last week for $9.99

Phil brings a good point. Best Buy and some other big boxes try to 'break' new bands by selling at ridiculous prices. The Killers are still on sale for $9.99. Many of these bands' cd's are priced even lower. At $6-$7, I find it to be relatively low risk to blind-buy a cd.

That is how I discovered Keane. Track 2 on Hopes and Fears is very, very good.

It's good to see another Patton fan on the board. Have you heard the new album yet? I'm dying to hear it as I couldn't really get into the last one.

I still break out the first two Fantomas albums on a regular basis, and FNM's "Angel Dust" is my favorite album of all time.[IMG]

Start here. Independent commercial-free Internet-only radio. It used to broadcast in the Cincinnati area, but ownership changed hands, and now it can only afford to broadcast on the Internet.

for me, it's the killers and keane as well. both albums are just great. i'm also really enjoying u2's latest.

matt - can you listen to headphones at work? i've said time and time again, but a great source for alternate music is www.radioio.com -- their eclectic stream is just phenomenal. i like this site so much i actually pay 10 bucks a month (so i can hear the hi-bit streams, the lo-bit stream is free) - it's the only internet based fee i'm willing to pay.

btw - we still gotta try to hook up one of these days! [IMG]
