hi all -

technically a pc question, but i know a lot of cdex users hang out here...

angelo has been trying to help me and i'm sure i'm just doing something dorky, but mebbe other great minds can assist.

what i'm trying to do is update my lame encoder to the following: http://www.rarewares.org/mp3.html - i'm downloading the 3.96.1 stable bundle.

i'm copying the "lame_enc.dll" file to my cdex directory. that should do it, but when i open cdex, it only shows the default encoder (v1.32).

any guesses what i'm doing wrong?

thx!

You are not doing anything wrong, the lame_enc.dll encoder in that latest stable bundle 'is' version 1.32 (engine 3.96 MMX).

The old version you may have had probably said version 1.32 (engine 3.93 MMX)

 man, i'm a dork. how am i supposed to get popular around here doing stuff like this?

i guess i thought the version part was supposed to say 3.96, not the engine part.

thx again angelo, et all.

Don't worry. The legend of "The Ted" grows on...

:D

Happy ripping/encoding. Use the -alt preset standard setting and I think you'll be happy with the results.
