I've read on other forums about putting something heavy on top of your CD player to reduce vibration errors. I wonder if putting your receiver on top of it would be a good idea. It would be a convenient place for me b/c of space issues and possible sonic value (?). Is a receiver *too* heavy?

Structurally, it depends on how sturdy your CD player is. There are some flagship A/V receivers that could probably crush one or two of the lighter, entry-level CD players[IMG]

Other than that, your biggest problem would probably be heat. Receivers can throw off quite a bit of it. This might damage your CD player. Also, the lack of air circulation to the bottom of the receiver would likely be detrimental.
