I think that a megachanger will allow me the easiest access to my slowly growing collectoion of about 150 CDs and give me more opportunity to listen to some of the less-played CDs in my collection. I was looking at the Pioneer PD-F1039 because it plays CD-Rs and R/Ws and also has keyboard input. Unfortunately, it looks like that has been discontnued. Does anyone have advice on 300-400 disc changers in the

Check this Out
It's in your price range. I'm not sure about OSD but the 450 which is $100 more has it and it comes with a killer remote.

I've had the Sony CX450 for over a year now with no problems. It holds 400 CDs, comes with a 2 way LCD remote, keyboard input, and OSD. I'm not sure if it plays both CD/R and CD/RW. All in all I've been very satisfied, shop around and you can probably find it for $350 or less. I'm not using the player's DACs as I have it connected to my receiver via optical connection.

Do the Sony changers (CX400 and CX450)play CD-Rs? I haven't seen anything stating that they can. Is onscreen display (OSD) a good feature to have?

Chris, my Sony CDP-CX333ES 300-disc megachangers (last year's model) play CD-Rs and CD-RWs even though there is no mention of compatibility in the owner's manual. I have also read on this site in the past that Sony's non-ES megachangers will play CD-Rs and CD-RWs. If you have a Tweeter or Best Buy in your area, they should have the 'CX400 and/or the 'CX450 (Tweeter stores generally have both, but Best Buy may only have the 'CX400). Bring some CD-Rs and CD-RWs and throw them in. They probably won't have either player connected to an amp or speakers, but you will be able to see if the players can read the discs' TOCs and play tracks from the display. CD-RW compatibility is the real issue because practically all CD players today can play CD-Rs.

I should have thought of just going to BestBuy myself and popping in some discs to see if they work. I will try that. I am leaning toward the CX-450 chich can be found online for
