I have a boom box that starts to play and then stops working. Is a CD cleaner worth trying. The box was stored in a garage for several months. It could also just be broken.

i don't think it would hurt. i've used them sparingly in my car, pc & cd player with no harm...that i'm aware of.

It won't damage your laser head if you use the decent ones (Maxell, Allsop, etc). However, don't use the wet/dry type.
I've used it in more than 500 drives with no ill effect.
