I finally got to listen to one of the CCR SACDs, Willie and the Poor Boys. I have no basis of comparison, but it sounds pretty good. For better or worse, I hear the limitations of the source tape. It demonstrates that guitar distortion was not a finely-tuned technique yet.
Having only heard the hits before, I rather enjoyed the whole album musically. I did cringe when Fogerty tried to get more rootsy than he could singing about Cotton Fields, but that sort of thing has always been part of their charm.
Cosmo's Factory is due for a listen tomorrow and I plan to order the rest when they're available.
