If I may make another small request to CBS/Paramount who currently owns the rights to this once perennial made-for-TV movie, this has been a long-awaited holy grail for a number of HTF members. As of 2011, it has never seen a remastered DVD release and the VHS has long been out of print. I would love the chance to retire my long worned out recording. Please consider this title, if not already on your schedule.

I'll second your request on this one. That adaptation of Sleepy Hollow is really fun. Jeff Goldblum is great as Ichabod Crane.

Thanks Bryan, much appreciated. He really makes the role his own. Dick Butkus is equally as good as Brom Bones.

I would love to have this in a remastered or even BD copy. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has always been such a great seller. I should think any studio would make money back on this item or even as an MOD version if worst comes to worst. Shout! Factory this might be something you might look in to! I hope someone does it is a great film! Mark Collins

Hi Chris, Thanks for turning me on to the film. I have loved The Ledgend of Sleep Hollow since I was a kid. I thought I had all the versions out there thanks to you now I think I do. I plan to watch the VHS tape I purchased from Market Place Saturday.

You're very welcome. I didn't find out until a few years ago this was even released on VHS, myself. The following brief synopsis culled from TCM -- in bold -- is some very interesting tidbit:
The old Washington Irving literary classic about clumsy schoolteacher Ichabod Crane's encounter with the fabled Headless Horseman in the town of Sleepy Hollow initially premiered, typically, on Halloween night. An entry in NBC's periodic "Classics Illustrated" series, this presentation was framed by hosts Gary Coleman and Steve Allen, whose appearances were eliminated subsequently. It was to be the only "Classics Illustrated" movie to receive an Emmy Award nomination -- as Outstanding Children's Program.

The only "Classics Illustrated" entry I remember watching on original airing was the 1978 version of The Time Machine with John Beck. Found the long OOP VHS of that one last year.
