Catwoman & Alexander lead Golden Raspberry Award nominations, no surprises there.:)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "This could be the year in which Alexander the Great conquers Catwoman and President Bush wins a prize as worst actor.

Nominations for the 25th annual Razzies, which honor the worst films of the year, were announced on Monday with "Catwoman," the Halle Berry box office bomb, besting "Alexander," Oliver Stone's much maligned tale of the bleached blond conqueror, by seven nominations to six.

In addition, the president made the list for worst actor for his film clip appearances in "Fahrenheit 9/11," a movie he might well consider the worst of the year. Also nominated for their appearances in the politically-charged film about the Iraq war were Secretary of State-designate Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

The Razzies are a traditional spoof award made at Oscar time by the non-profit Golden Raspberry Award Foundation. The group's prizes are given out on Feb. 26, the day before the Oscars. Never has one of its films gone on to win an Oscar."

I think the Prez was nominated for worst screen couple as well (with Rice).

So do we now refer to Fahrenheit 911 as "four-time Razzie nominee, Fahrenheit 911"?

;)

Well in a few hours time we'll find out if Fahrenheit 911 gets any Oscar noms to go along with it's Razzie noms.

And an already highly miffed Oliver Stone won't be too happy to hear his 'personal' epic Alexander's a leading Razzie contender.:)

[Yeah, Bush-Berry!] If Halle Berry wins, is she going to be the first ever Oscar and Razzie's best & worst double winner? I do hope she enjoys making history. :D

Actually, from the official nominee list, it's:

George W. Bush & EITHER Condoleeza Rice OR His Pet Goat / FAHRENHEIT 9/11

Ouch. :D

(the reference, for anyone who hasn't seen the movie or doesn't know, is to the book he was reading to schoolkids in a Florida classroom on 9/11 after being informed of the attacks on the World Trade Center--the book was called My Pet Goat.)

Actually, just to clear up a myth :) The book was not "My Pet Goat".. It was a story (in fact called "The Pet Goat", not "My Pet Goat" the book itself was "Reading Mastery 2", which is required for elementary students.. minor nitpick.. but it's one of those that catches my eye every time ;)

Wow, my Macedonian friend Elena will be thrilled to hear Alexander is up for a Razzie!

What categories, by the way, are Catwoman and Alexander nominated for anyway?

Is there an official Razzie website?

Chris, thanks for the correction on The Pet Goat--why is it that everywhere on the web I've seen it referred to as My Pet Goat? I guess that's what Moore called it in the movie, though I don't precisely remember.

Yeah, it's because of how he referred to it. No political take, just a minor thing.. actually, I think the New Yorker corrected it.. but, just for those who ever wonder:

"The Pet Goat" appears on page 153 of

Reading Mastery II, Storybook 1,
by Siegfried Engelmann and Elaine Bruner
ISBN 0574101284
Publisher SRA/MacMillan/Mcgraw Hill

Other ISBNs associated with various printings this book are:
0026863383
0026863553

(snipped from elsewhere, but verified as the case.. having nieces in Florida school system ;)

This don't belong there IMO,and I don't see a nomination for Cellular, easily the worst film I've seen last year.

I agree, Stiller (one of the top box office grossers of the year, incidentally), doesn't really deserve a slot.

I do like how "Pitof" is in quotes.

I like that Stiller has gotten slammed by getting
the Razzie nomination for his multiple shitburgers
that he has starred in lately. He has to start picking
better screenplays to work on.

Wouldn't it be great if it was televised? And with all the nominees in attendance. Governor Schwarzenegger opens the envelope... "and the winner is... George W.Bush" [spontaneous applause breaks out as the President makes his way to the podium]. Halle Berry breaks down in tears on hearing her name announced "but.. but I'm an Oscar winner" she cries. Angelina Jolie gives her a hug. And a smiling John Travolta graciously accepts the award for worst drama of the past 25 years.:D
