John, you're describing what I heard with a similar but smaller Cat5 cable. It sounded nicer but it wasn't such a big difference that I could really be sure about it. Interestingly enough, my large cables constructed from cheap Cat5 I bought at Home Depot sounded significantly worse. I think the teflon insulated type may be necessary... I bought some surplus Belden 1701A at 8 cents a foot from MECI.
