I recently picked up Hulu for their 99-cents-a-month special during the holiday season and watched the first three episodes of this. I think I'm done.

Just started watching this 2 days ago. I am finding it a slow burn, with very interesting characters. I have two episodes left. As long as they stay consistent with what I have seen, this wil have been an enjoyable ride.

Have just moved into the streaming world and am running across some interesting series.

Is it that much different? I enjoyed the book very much. Was the story changed substantially or is the actors? Not much of a Franco fan, was going to watch it as I really enjoyed the novel.

I think they made substantial changes to the story which did not improve the narrative. The biggest mistake, in my view, was giving the protagonist a friend to talk to, so that instead of having voiceover narration to give exposition, he's talking to a friend. But that goes against the whole idea that he's on a one-man mission and can't confide in anyone.
