[This is a re-write from a thread I posted last week; which now includes the option to vote].

The American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Movies" lists of 1998 and 2007 have only 6 remaining titles yet to be released on BD.
Each of the 6 are worthy and long overdue; be they created from a 2K or 4K scan.
I thought it would be interesting to conduct a vote and to see exactly where the HTF membership stands, as well.
Hopefully WAC and others will take note by lending their considerations towards the releases of those that garnered the highest votes.
So, be it two, four or six, which of the above would be a Day One purchase for you?

Well, of course I want them all. They're all great cinema classics, and I couldn't imagine not having them in my video library. Right now, DVDs are having to suffice, but all of them would make extremely welcome additions to my Blu-ray collection.

Me, too. I love these discussions, but with this updated format the real numbers and truer votes will be there and head-lined for WAC and other licensees to see; without scrolling and scrolling.
Good luck to us all.

P.S. Thanks to RMajidi, who originally gave me this idea within another thread (well over a year ago).:thumbs-up-smiley:

A Place in the Sun would be my #1 choice. Mellor's cinematography, Stevens' direction, the haunting score, the two most gorgeous leads ever in tight close ups. Great acting too.
#2 would be Wuthering Heights for Toland's cinematography, the score, Wyler's direction, and the great Geraldine Fitzgerald.
#3 would be Swing Time for Kern's score, Stevens' direction and the glorious dancing.
#4 would be The Philadelphia Story for the wonderful Virginia Weidler.
#5 would be Bringing Up Baby because it has the most beautiful cats.
#6 would be A Night at the Opera because it has the Anvil Chorus mixed up with Take Me out to the Ball Game. Hysterical.

"appears"; but is it officially confirmed?

It is the consensus based on this month's Criterion newsletter clue.

Still waiting for two great RKO films Gunga Din & The Magnificent Ambersons to be on hi def. Hope the later Marx Bros will come out on Blu-ray since they did a great job with the early set with Universal.

Voted for Philly Story, Baby, and Sun. The first two are comedy classics and Sun features a fine early performance from Raymond Burr.

Great list, but I only want A Night At The Opera out of that lot, & if Warner released that they might as well release the other Marx Brothers they have (I know I shouldn't, but I prefer the MGM films).

...& how come All That Money Can Buy (The Devil & Daniel Webster) isn't on the AFI list? It's one of the greats.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing quite a few of those, but Swing Time is probably my most wanted on that list (along with the other Astaire/Rogers films). But on the subject of Wuthering Heights, since that is a Goldwyn film, I'm curious about the deal with Goldwyn and Warner, particularly about how long it is supposed to last. At this point, I don't think we will get any more Goldwyn films from Warner, unless they own the films outright (due to the reported condition of the film elements), so I can't help but wonder when somebody like Kino or Criterion might be able to license these films and be able to work on restoring them.

Philadelphia Story is coming from Criterion. Bringing Up Baby is either coming from WAC or Criterion - I think CC would jump at the chance to release it. A Place in the Sun is inevitable. There was an Amazon placeholder in the spring but it was quickly pulled. A Night at the Opera can't come soon enough.

I voted for all of them. They all deserve Blu-rays.

I'd buy them all, and then start complaining that a SECOND list wasn't already waiting for our votes. Ah well,
you reach my age and bitching about the restored Blu-Ray classics I DON'T have is almost as much fun as
watching the ones I do have.
