My dad just told me a story about how on his flight back from London they showed Castaway!! [IMG] All I could imagine was the scene in Airplane! where the in-flight movie was of a plane crash.

Have airline standards changed so much that they'll show movies with plane crashes in them? It wouldn't bother me but I know plenty of people who hate flying for whom something like this would push them over the edge.

Wow. I wouldn't think so. By the way, it's spelled Cast Away. [IMG]

    I'd take that over "Alive".

    Or the Airport movies.

It could be that the plane had personal LCD screens. When i flew to England, they had those. It allows people to watch a selection of different stuff, from TV shows to movies that fit most people's tastes. Granted, its still a strange choice.

Also, Cast Away could have been edited for in-flight viewing. Just remove all references to a plane crashing and go right to Hanks in a lifeboat.

Final Destination played in-flight on some airlines. In this version the kids die in a bus crash from New York to Paris [IMG] ...and no, I am not making this up.

Even if it were only available on the personal screens, Cast Away is a very inapropriate movie to show on a flight.

Fearless would be another film to avoid playing... the transfers not even in the OAR. [IMG]

I saw Final Destination on a flight to Arizona two years ago, no bus scene editing. I was pretty surprised...

Another one is Turbulence with Ray Liota, there is a whole bunch of other movies about plane crashes and hijacking. You would think they would have more sense.

My parents went on a cruise and they showed Titanic also, but I guess they were docked at the time, waiting for something.

So that means that there was a completely different premise filmed for in flight. Removing all scenes of the airplane, people in the airport and all references to the plane crash afterward? That would make the whole film significantly different. Plus the other edits for violence/gore. It must have ran for about 15 minutes.

I guess Pushing Tin could be on this list. I know it would freak me out if I thought, or knew traffic controllers were like that. [IMG]

In the Speed 5 Stars Edition, you have an easter eggs with the edited scene when the Bus explode in a airport, they've removed the plane! [IMG]

I remember reading that an in flight version of Demolition Man changed the restaurant from Taco Bell to Burger King....

I saw this thread title and had to laugh a little to myself because I am terrified of flying and from time to time I tell a true story of me and my wife flying to Hawaii (I am especcially afraid of flying over water) and watching "Six days and Seven Nights" (there's a plane crash in that one too)
