Yeah, Chris, I agree that priorities are a little
out of whack when it comes to media attention. I
wouldn't waste the electricity on my TV set, or
5 seconds of my life to watch this movie-of-the-
week shit. I think it's despicable that she is
getting paid for a criminal act, and if the guy
still wants her, then he deserves to have his life
ruined by that tart. She should die alone.

Really, I had certainly heard of her in Seattle over the years, and knew exactly who they were talking about when I first saw the headline on CNN that she had been identified. Given the circumstances of this particular case, however, I doubt that additional coverage would have helped them identify her any quicker. (The parents did it, they moved to cover their tracks, and things were only cleared up when their parents turned them in).

I will certainly agree with the sentiment that the media is somewhat arbitrary when it comes to promoting their stories, however, and ultimately they tend to be ratings based. That is why they tend to push the stories that middle America can get behind.
