Can't turn off subtitles on Tennenbaums! (1 Viewer)

Do I have a faulty disc? No matter what I do I can't turn off the subtitles on The Royal Tennenbams - Criterion edition. There isn't even a subtitle option on the disc menu. Anybody help?

Another thing I can't stand is I notice more and more DVD's having the sub-titles on when first inserted in the player.

This would be a DVD player related problem, not software. This never happens to me with 500+ DVD's played. This includes Royal Tenenbaums.

Thanks Jeff. But what I dont understand is that there is no option FOR subtitles on the disc menu.

Have you tried using the subtitle functions on your remote? There's nothing about the disc itself that locks them on.

Jeff, the thing is it only happens on some DVD's. It just seems like more of them are starting that way. Mostly rentals from BB, and I rent quite a bit. I don't think I've seen it on any in my collection.
