When I save a pic from a website, the saved icon appears as if it doesn't recognize the file type. If I click on the saved image, I get a window asking me what program I want to use to display it. How do I fix this so when I save a jpeg it remains a jpeg on my computer?

Sometimes, a pic downloaded as such has the extension .jpe instead of .jpg. I have found that some viewers do not recognize this extension. In your instance, If this is the case, rename the extension .jpg and you should be good to go.

What program are you using to view your images with? Do you have a program that can save one file type to another type? What extensions do the files have that you download? .gif, .jpg, etc? Do you tell your system what program you want to use to view the picture with when it asks you? Have you tired renaming the file when you download it say from xxx.jpg to yyy.jpg and see if you can view it then or are you saving it as it is named?
