Can't hear the bass sound... (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone...I need help about my home theater system config. I have Yamaha HTR-6130 A/V receiver and 6.1 DA Pro III divinci speaker. After I connect all the wire and turn it on, I barely hear the bass sound. I follow the speaker config manual.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may never hear good bass from that speaker system. Those are one of the many brands of "White Van" speakers. There's a link to Wikipedia's review of them below...........

The speakers sold by the speakermen are of exceptionally poor quality, typically obtained for less than $50 from a local distributor.

The speakers themselves have been reported as potentially damaging to any amplifier they are connected to. The risk of damage stems from an impedence curve that in some cases may drop below 2 ohms, which may overheat, short out, or permanently damage an amplifier not designed to handle such loads.

Guy in suv or van drives up to you has these $3000 speakers extras , you can have em for a deal you can't pass up . He try to get you to give him $100 or more up to $1500. for these $40 china speakers.

Don't get Scammed !

The local police should also be contacted.

Law enforcement WILL issue citations, as rarely do the speakerguys obtain the proper permits and license to sell "out of a vehicle".

In Pennsylvania, the act of selling white van speakers is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a fine of $10,000 .

Many of the sales take place in the parking lots of Best Buy, Home Depot, or Circuit City with video surveillance equipment installed, making video evidence of the act likely.

A "scambuster" with a local newspaper or television news department might also be interested.

Looks like a passive subwoofer (no amp built-in, right, no power connection)?

If following that diagram, make sure you set on the receiver your front speaker size to "large" & no subwoofer. That will direct bass to the front speaker level outs.

Hope you didn't pay too much for that cheap speaker set ... that brand has been mentioned as a "white van" brand. (The "white van" scam is where people out of a truck approach people on the street claiming a great deal on speakers, greatly overstating their original value.)

this speaker is nothing but crap??? Luckily I didnt buy it though .I got it from my uncle. He doesnt wanna use it.I dont know where he got it from.

Can I do something with it or just throw it away Is it still safe if I use it or is there anyway to make the bass sound out (even though this speaker is a crap ) ?

I've never had this type of speaker setup before (luckily, my uncles never gave me anything ) but I wouldn't think they would damage your receiver. It should have self-protection curcuits built into it. But I can't say it couldn't happen.

As for bass, if Stephens suggestion doesn't work, you may want to at least replace the sub with a better self-powered one. Then, since your receiver doesn't have a "crappy" option in the speaker setup menu, reset all speakers to "small" and hope for the best. Also, make sure the individual speaker volumes, distances and cross-over (80 or 100) are also set correctly. This is best done with a setup disc and spl meter but you can do it without them. Just don't expect too much. Those speakers probably aren't very good.

Yep, nothing like going into a good a/v store and demo-ing a few pair of good speakers. You'll be a lot happier with the results.

Glad to help, but I copied and pasted that info, from another site. Someone else had done all the research. I saved it in notepad, so I can post it when needed. Been having a lot of trouble with Craig's List postings, with some of those brands. I sent the state Attorney General's office an email about the scams, but they don't seem too interested, so far. Everytime they flag my "Warning" posts, and they're removed, I just keep reposting it, until they give up.
