I just recently hooked up my Sony Mini Hi-fi system(MHC-ZX30AV) to my VCR using regular audio/video cables but I cant hear anything in my rear speakers I just recently rented pearl Harbour and it said it was in Dolby Surround but i can only hear from the center and right and left speakers. The weird thing is the fact that when i switch from VCR to TV I can watch TV in Full surround....What am i doing wrong

P.s I cant wait to get my DVD player for christmas hopefully it will solve this problem

The receiver should be set to Pro-Logic.

Pearl Harbor has an audio set up menu on the disk. You can choose DD 5.1 or DTS or I believe 2 channel. Did you set the disk to 5.1?

    Just a thought.

Evan - Disc and VCR don't go together...

So set to PL and no surround? Sounds odd. Do you have other tapes that have the same problem with your VCR? It could be a misaligned or dirty head, or a bad tape.

Also, is the VCR a 4 or 6 head Hi-Fi VCR? If not, that could be it.
