Like the thread says I can't afford a nice HDTV
(I live in Trinidad and we have a 6.7:1 exchange rate and 45% duty on electronic items)
so I want to use a nice big monitor with my dvd plaver and xbox.

I have a phillips dvd player capable of 480p and 540p and of course the xbox
which mostly does 480p but is capable of up to 1080i ...

I was looking at this which converts a componet input to vga:
http://www.keydigital.com/Itemdesc.asp?CartId=

*look under video adapters*

The key digital Component To Vga Adapter W/Vga & Comp
Model: KD-CTCA3 / ClearVideo3

To be used in conjunction with a nice & big, but ot too expensive monitor I was hoping
to get a recommendation for ...

Thanks in advance.

It should work ok, but why don't you just use a computer as a source? That's preferred anyway, plus you'll be able to push much much higher resolutions than that coming off your dvd players, and you'll be able to game, and all that stuff too.
