is the canon LV-S3 projector a good model for home theatre use?

No not really. Its a 4:3 pJ with only 800 * 600 resolution. For about the same money look at the Studio Experience 1HD from www.avdeals.ca

The 3 projectors I'm looking at are all 4:3 and SVGA resolution. I'm on a budget so I'm looking at $1500 out the door.

With that in mind paying $1750 for and SVGA 4:3 projector doesn't make sense when there are a few VERY good 16:9 projectors for the same money.
