To all the Canadian HTFers out there: do any of you know a good place to order Amaray cases domestically? I am looking for both single Amarays and double slim Amarays.

I know inetdvd.com in the U.S. has a great selection, but when I tried to place an order with them, even the cheapest shipping option was more than the cost of the product in the order. In my mind, that's not good. And you just know that I'd have to pay that stupid $5 "handling charge" at the border...

dv-depot.com has a good variety of Alpha cases, but they don't seem to carry Amarays... and I don't see an Alpha equivalent to the double slim Amarays on their site.

I couldn't find anything relevant using the search function here, but maybe I'm just searching on the wrong keywords?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

cnl.com has single amaray cases for $1.49 each/3 for $3.99 or 30 for $34.99, double amaray thin cases for $1.99 each. Make sure you read about their shipping and return policy.
I've ordered dvd's from them before with no problems but I've heard others have bad experiences.

Also, HMV occasionally sells Maxell Amaray-look-alike triple DVD cases (all 3 DVDs stack onto the same hub). It's the same size and shape as a regular amaray case. I like it because it is the only case I can find in stores that lets me have more than 1 DVD in it! It's a bit pricey at $4.99 per 2 pack though.

Walmart used to carry them for $3.99 each, but in the last month they stopped carrying them! Arrrgh.

Norm, I'll check that site out...that's cheap!

BTW Norm, where does the booklet go in the double DVD case? Is it exactly like the double DVD cases found in dual-DVD movie releases, with one DVD attached to a hinged plastic hub?

Amaray? Not sure. Lately I've been purchasing the so-called "Mercedes" cases from A&B Sound. Although last time I went there they had a hub I'd never seen before. A small round "button" in the center. I picked up a couple out of curiosity. They work pretty good!

Max, it depends on which they have in stock. The first time I ordered, it was the double cases with the hinged plastic hub, like the Star Wars cases, yet the second time I ordered, one disc would go in it's regular place, the second on the inside of the cover. So there is no place for a booklet.

You may want to contact them first.

a good place to try for DVD cases are computer stores. if you're in Toronto, try the places on College by Spadina. in Mississauga, i was at Logic and they were selling double DVD cases (thin, hub inside each cover) for .99 each.

Just checking in on this thread... many thanks to all who replied.

I'll probably go with cnl.com just because I'm specifically looking for the Amaray type. But... those policies! I'd never buy an actual DVD from them, because I wouldn't want the hassle if it was defective. I'm hoping that with just cases, I'll be OK.

Juan, I actually live in London, and don't get to Toronto all that often. Great price, though! I'm assuming it's not in some kind of chain store that would have an outlet here?

Eric, I've checked out some of the computer stores around here... no dice yet, unfortunately.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions!
