What projector are you getting. Some people like to use a White(Behr Ultra White) some people prefer a gray by either Behr or Glidden. A poplular color right now is Misty Evening by Glidden. This is what I used. I just painted the Wall and used 2 1/4" molding for my border.....check out my link for pics....[IMG]

Jared, you might want to check out goosystems.com. I don't have any experience with their products, but their screen paints seem interesting...

    Jared,
Go with a gray color for sure. It will reduce SDE somewhat and increase blacks...

If you're painting your wall to use as a screen, does it matter if there is some texture to the wall?

    Yes,
From what I read texture can hurt the picture. Your best bet is to try it. If it doesn't work then make one with Parkland plastic or blackout cloth.
My wall doesn't have much texture at all.....works out great for me.

I used Behr "Ultra Pure White" flat that was converted to Behr "Gray Tropics" PIC 56 flat.
Home Depot did this for me.

Jared, I have that same projector. I tested it on a white wall, a Matte white Da-Lite screen, a white blackout cloth screen and a blackout cloth screen painted gray. The gray painted screen was the winner. Increased black levels and reduced screendoor without affecting other colors.

The paint is a Lowe's brand, Valspar Gray Plank Interior Flat (code: 101-21.5, 107-1, 116-1).

    Peace Out~[IMG]

I second the gray as I tested out many Behr samples and even mixed some paint to create my own shades. FYI, you can apply via a paint roller and a product called floetrol can be mixed with it to prevent streaking.

a long time ago (almost a year ago?) somebody here posted a huge and marvelous review on different paints and surfaces to use. lots of pictures. I never got to read the final review and I've been trying to locate the thread... anyone still have it? I'm pretty sure it was on this forum.

if so, could you post the link here and email it to [email protected]

    Jared,

Go with Glidden's Misty Evening from HD...it's a trend over at AVS. Great result from a lot of people.

    Definitely flat...

    Have fun,

    Mark
