Can you place something on top of a sub without sound degradation? (1 Viewer)

Is a bit of a silly question but does anyone know if placing something (like a potted plant) ontop of a subwoofer makes any major difference to the quality of the sound? Better or worse?

i would say no.

sub's are pretty much non-directional, so you wouldn't be "blocking" the sound in any way.

the only thing i'm thinking is that the object may rattle on top of the sub.

I've got a cd rack on top of my sub and no problems there. It doesn't even rattle. But something in the wall does on some deep bass scenes :frowning:

in my religion, it is a sacrilege to place objects on any speaker. i am quite sure that the ht gods will smack down some horrendous fate on those that do.:b

I have three 45# rubber coated barbell plates on mine (135# total) So the sub and the plates together weigh 270#.
:D
My sub is on a weightlifting program. No flabby bass here.
