Can the sub be connected like this?

I currently have a pseudo EX set-up so my surround speakers have their own amp. I was wondering if I could hook up this amp's sub pre-out to my main sub L(left) input. My main amp is connected to the sub via the R(right) input. In other words, I'd be hooking up both amps (pre-outs) to the same sub using the L&R inputs. Is there anything wrong with this?
By the way, I wanted to do this because with my main amp (Onkyo DS838), the surround speakers cannot be set to small and I'm thinking that the low frequency signals sent to my surround speakers are wasted.

In the past I have fed independent low LFE/Sub signals to my subwoofer amplifiers L/R low level inputs with no problems.
It would be the same as feeding the L/R inputs L/R stereo signals.
