Can the JBL S26 be laid horizontally ?...Like they do in recording studios ?....I was amazed on how big they were and I was wondering if it will effect it's performance if I were to lay them on there sides ?

The JBL S26 takes its design queue from JBL Pro Linear Spatial Reference LSR25P Studio Monitor System. The key with orientation is understanding the Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) Waveguide. Although JBL does not provide the design spec. for the JBL S-Series, it's easily found reviewing their LSR Specification & Owner’s Manual.

Spec: Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) Waveguide with 50° x 100° dispersion

This orientation eliminates the phase shifts that occur when the relative distances between the woofer, tweeter and the listening position change.
So, I would not recommend placing them on their sides (horizontal).
