Can speakers be damaged by FF or Rewinding a CD during playback without lowering vol. (1 Viewer)

I always turn the volume down because the sound whirring by makes me cringe but can this actually cause damage. How come CD players dont have muting circuits built in? Thanks to all who reply.

It probably doesn't cause any damage, because the sound is simply the track at high speed.

The reason they don't mute is so that you can hear where you want to stop.

Every CD or DVD player I've used, automatically mutes the sound by about 10 dB itself when FF or REW'ing...
