Also the first one had a red case, and the second had a black case, but I don't know if you can go by that.

The corrected copy I got was in a red case. You must've had a later pressing of the disc as all copies I've seen of the movie on DVD are in the red case.

The P&S ending is wildly changed.
They approach an egg-shaped planet!
If you think that's bad, the CED (and possibly the first edition of TBH on video) was anamorphic widescreen.
Yes, enjoy an uncompressed image for 90 minutes that's conveniently cropped on all 3 sides as well. Perhaps they thought people had scope lenses at home?
