    Product description:

A piggy bank, in the shape of a black cube, about 5x5x5". There is a coin slot on top, as well as a small lid that lifts from the top of the box. When a coin is inserted into the slot, the cube begins to undulate slightly, then a small green hand slowly emerges from the lid on top. All of a sudden, it grabs the coin and disappears back into the cube. Fun way to save money.

Are these things still being made? What were they called? If I am to find one to purchase, or to bid on at eBay, I need to know the product name. Any help is appreciated!

Amazon linked to this site, but I know nothing about the company.

I know the hand used to be green back in the day, but I'm not sure if those can still be found.

I think the version you're thinking of is called the "Magic Bank". Search Google with that term and you'll find a number of products that match your description, except for the color of the hand.

I had a wind-up bank similar to this. It was tin, in the shape of a brown book and featured a green skeletal hand that came out of the flap and dragged the coin down into the box.

I bought one in Disney World at the Haunted Mansion souvenir shop...about 20 years ago. If you're going there soon, you could look for one [IMG]

    Wow!!!!!!!
    Talk about memories!!!!
My uncle used to have one that was wind up, and kinda...creepy.
It was like a zombie hand, green and decomposed. (he was kind of a horror movie buff). When you placed the coin on the platform in front of the box...the hand shot out real fast, multiple times and grabbed the coin.
It was a blast and my brothers and I used to play with it every time we went to my grandmother's house.
Thanks for bringing back the memories

i loved that thing for some reason.

i was probably about 5 or 6 so that thing sort freaked me out because i couldnt open it when ever i wanted to.
i guess it only opened every ten dollars, but i never knew that.
