There is one episode in (IIRC) the "Carol's Crack-Ups" set which Time-Life thinks Dick Van Dyke is in, but he's not -- his name is listed as appearing in several skits in the episode, but he's actually not in it at all.

What’s really strange is that he isn’t listed as a guest in the episode along with Conway; his name just appears in the sketch breakdown for a couple of sketches. I never noticed that before.

Hi Rob......here are the show numbers for the Walmart Exclusive This Time Together single DVD (which if you have the whole 31 Columbia set, you would not need this single disc set.....and both this single disc version and the Columbia House versions are both featured each show uncut).

#924 (Season 9 Finale.....no guest stars....family show....with a "Family Skit", "Tudball and Wiggins Skit" and the Charwoman ending).

#916 (Season 9 show with guest Rita Moreno)

#905 (Season 9 show with Cher.....Has a "As The Stomach Turns" skit in this one)

Bonus Features on the single Walmart DVD (which also are featured on the other big box Time Life Collection):

1.) Sketch with Jerry Lewis "Society Marriage.
2.) Sketch "Lovely Story" (a parody of "Love Story"
3.) Featurette: "Starlet, Mildred and More- A Celebration of the Movie Parodies".

So essentially, If you have all 31 Columbia House DVDs and all the Time Life DVD's except this one, you are not missing anything. I hope that helps!!! :)

As stated, no you are not missing any episodes as these are already released on the Columbia House set. However, the picture quality is a bit better on the TimeLife disc versus the Columbia House versions of the same episodes.

It's tricky, because some Time-Life versions of shows are edited, even if Columbia House/Guthy-Renker released them complete.

Also, for the record: Volumes 1-21 of the Columbia House/Guthy-Renker DVDs are the same. But volumes 22-31 of the Columbia House DVDs were NOT re-released by Guthy-Renker.

Columbia House are in slim cases. Guthy-Renker are in standard cases.

The Columbia House DVDs have volume numbers, the Guthy-Renker do not. Also, the Guthy-Renker list the show numbers as well as airdates. Columbia House only gives the airdates.

I have a question that I'm hoping one of you can help me with. I'm a big "Mama's Family" fan, and would love to see all of "The Family" sketches from the Carol Burnett Show that spawned that series. As I understand it, the sketches began in Season 7. Have all of them (or most of them) appeared on these various combinations of DVD releases, bonus discs, etc. or are there a lot missing? I would love to collect them all, but don't want to have to track down tons of different releases to get them.

I discovered this thread while doing a Google search on the Columbia House releases, as I have recently started collecting the show. This thread has been very helpful in that regard, but I still have a couple of questions. First of all, does anyone have a list of the show numbers on each of the 31 Columbia House releases? When searching on EBay, the listings often have only photos of the spines of the cases, showing only the volume numbers and no other information. Also, I am wondering about the 7 disc version of Carol's Favorites. The listings describe it as having 18 episodes instead of the 16 in the 6 disc set, but I can't find anything that tells what the two extra episodes are. Any help that can be given on these two questions would be greatly appreciated.

I do not know what the additional two episodes are on the expanded Carol's Favorites set. However, the episodes were included on the Ultimate Set released by Time Life. These were not exclusive never released episodes that were only found on that expanded set. In other words, if you buy the original Ultimate Set that contains (I believe) 60 episodes you will get those additional two episodes. Here is a list of the Columbia House DVDs. Please note:

Shows in bold have also been released by Time Life in one of the following sets: Ultimate Set, Christmas With Carol DVD, Carol’s Crack Ups Set (Costco Exclusive 8 Disc Set), This Time Together (Wal-Mart Exclusive 1 Disc Edition) & Costco Exclusive This Time Together Set (Disc 7).

Shows in italics are only available on the Columbia House set.

Shows in bold and italics are edited on the Time Life sets but are unedited on the Columbia House set.

Thanks, Brian! I do have The Ultimate Collection and The Lost Episodes box. I just received a box of assorted episodes from the Columbia House and Guthy Renker collections, and this gives me all the info I need. I have just started collecting the show, and this thread has been a godsend. Thanks again!

Thank you for this comprehensive list.

I'm currently working on a project to put all of "The Family" sketches together in order, and trimmed to only those sketches, and maybe other relevant extras (Password Plus appearance, Eunice on Tim Conway Show, etc). The one gigantic hurdle that I have not been able to overcome is that Carol Burnett Show Season 11, Episode 4 sketch. It's still not anywhere that I've found after an exhaustive search. Not on the new Shout TV episodes, nor on the Tubi TV episodes. I don't have a Roku, but I figure those episodes are the same as the Tubi TV episodes. Once again, Carol Burnett fans were lied to when they said all of the episodes were full and unedited.

Have you happened to come across that missing sketch yet? How do you know it's contents? All I have really found about it are your description and the Wikipedia page, which calls the sketch title "Overnight Guest."

I've resorted to looking for people who may have recorded the episode on VHS. Search engines are a lot worse than they were 20 years ago when one is trying to do a deep dive.

If anyone reading this has any useful advice, I'd appreciate it.

If you get the recent 50th anniversary "Best Of" set, the one to get is the one with the RED cover. It's 10 DVDs and although it repeats a lot of shows, many are exclusive to this set. But if you check eBay, it can be found reasonably priced if you have patience. The 11-DVD version offered through Time-Life is just the 10-DVD set plus the final episode (which is available separately) in its own case. If you get them separately on eBaY you will save a ton of dough.
Do you know how many episodes on the red set are exclusive? Is anything on the gold set is exclusive?

This may be a longshot, but does anyone know if these 2 skits are available on any of the sets?:

1. Carol sings "I Feel the Earth Move" during an earthquake.

2. Carol shouts (to guest Helen Reddy) "Helen, Ready?"

I'm looking to put together my own Carol Burnett Show collection, using some of the (very awesome) info previously posted to this thread.. My chief concern is I'm hearing impaired & thus was wondering which of the existing sets and individual volumes -- if any -- have closed captioning and/or English subtitles?

Just thought I'd interject something: This new "Little Golden Book" from Random House was released on January 3rd, 2023! (Strange release date, but there you have it.)
