I've seen a few things written about this, but I don't know much about it. I am trying to find out if this is normal DTS or something above it? Do you need a compatible receiver/processor to utilize it? How much is this format used?

Any info would be appreciated.

I belive that would be DTS audio, and if I am not mistaken, is no longer in production. From what I read, there are no new DTS audio titles being released, as the DTS Entertainment is now releasing DVD-A. The DVD-A re-releases of some titles previously released in DTS, are supposed to also include the DTS tracks.

You shouldn't need anything "special" beyond a DVD player with DTS output.

From Philip Hamm:

There are many DTS CDs and they're still in print and easy to find. They also sound fantastic and are worth buying. However, with the advent of DVD-A new DTS CDs are no longer being mastered and made. Instead, DTS is starting to make DVD-Audio discs with (very worthwhile) DTS compatability tracks.
