Okay, I have done the following:

    1. Flashed the firmware of my ACER 1640 DVD drive with the region-free fix (so it won't freeze after the 5th change).

    2. Installed DVD Genie to make my MSIDVD player (which is essentially PowerDVD 3.0) region selectable.

However I know that in the HT front, the ability to convert PAL to NTSC is necessary because of the different Hz. My question is, will that also be true on a PC, showing on a monitor?

My graphics card is an MSI GeForce2 Pro 64MB so it should have the horses to deal with most any graphics situation. But will PowerDVD 3.0, with the DVD Genie, properly play PAL DVDs on my Sony 19" CPD-G400 monitor?

Sorry, I'm a newbie at this.

    Thanks!

Your monitor can play PAL discs fine. There will be no problem.

    Carlos,

I would suggest DVD RegionKiller instead of DVD Genie, it resides in your system tray and automatically switches the dvd region for you.
