I have a really high end set of speakers that I need much better equipment for. I have a set of dunlavy SCII's if anyone cares. Well anyways back to the point. I am interested in building a htpc that I can use as my preamp. Im looking at using a soundblaster E-MU High end studio recording card ($500). Then I am going to run balanced outputs into a krell amp or something of the sort. Will this give me audiophile sound? As far as I can tell the card Im looking at has awsome specs. So I want to know if this is a viable solution? Or should I get a pre/pro also. If I go this route though Im gonna forgo the HTPC.

    Thanks.

The Lynx TwoB is a popular audiophile sound card of choice. I'd be wary giving money to Creative. RME makes great sound cards too.
