Can a person go deaf by listening at Reference Level? (1 Viewer)

This may sound crazy, but if anyone is truly concerned about his/her hearing I would suggest wearing foam earplugs at reference levels (or even slightly below)... that way you'll still "feel" the sound and hear most everything you need to hear (dialogue, explosions, sound effects)... some sound effects, like quiet bird chirps or the subtle scraping of tires on pavement, might be lost.
Do you wear dark sunglasses too? :D :D :D
Everyone is so concerned about reference level. I would be more concerned about it too if I felt like all DVDs were recorded the same. We all know that "reference" level is often not close from one DVD to another. I just got done watching Rock Star on DVD. I was one of those '80s kids that played his Kraco loud. :D The music volume in this DVD at 75db is weak. It leaves me longing for the Kraco. However, I can take a DVD like A Bug's Life and I might find it uncomfortable. Throw in IMAX's Super Speedway at the same level and I might be ducking under the couch while clawing at my ears.
