I'm trying to decide between the 2802 & the 3802.I currently have a 3 year old AVR2700 which does not have DTS.My main question is,would the 2802 be a upgrade,or am I just getting a updated version of what I already have.If that is the case,I will look more towards the 3802.My 2700 has 70W/channel.Thanx for any help.

Wayne, in my opinion you should go for the best one you can afford which out of those two would be the 3802. I've read many good things about the 3802 on this board and I have personal Denon experience via my 5800 which I just love.

If it isn't going to affect your budget for other HT related items then go with the 3802 since Denon does try to distinguish adjacent model number units with more performance and/or options.

The 2802 is 90WPC x 6 and has DD EX, DTS ES discrete and matrix, DPL2, and DTS neo6 and is 96/24 capable. I would consider that an upgrade. But the 3802 has all of that and more, plus more powerful amps(forget the exact number) and 7 channels of amplification.
