New Call of Duty Coming Nov. 4 Features Harington as the Face of the Enemy

June 10, 2016 01:43 PM Eastern Daylight Time

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that Kit Harington will be featured in the upcoming Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare, scheduled for release November 4th. The role marks a dramatic shift for the popular actor, as he portrays the face of the enemy in the new Call of Duty game in development by Infinity Ward.

"Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro," said Taylor Kurosaki, narrative director, Infinity Ward. "Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can't wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character."

To lend additional support to the production, Activision and Infinity Ward worked closely with director Guy Ritchie, who is familiar with the Call of Duty® franchise, having helmed the acclaimed live-action trailer "Surprise" for Call of Duty®: Black Ops II.

"Guy Ritchie is a friend of the franchise, so it was great to have him back to work with us, assisting in bringing Kit Harington's character to life in Infinite Warfare," added Dave Stohl, studio head, Infinity Ward. "It meant a lot to us to develop the role into everything it could be. We're excited about the performance Kit delivered and can't wait to get it out to the public. We're committed to delivering a compelling story with rich character depth, and this was a special opportunity to add to our fantastic cast."

"Gathering this level of talent together for this role speaks to our studio partner's drive to deliver a powerful narrative in Call of Duty," said Tim Ellis, chief marketing officer, Activision. "We challenge ourselves to constantly be fresh and expansive in creating gripping, immersive experiences that are exciting to play for our fans every year."

Last year's Call of Duty®: Black Ops III had the biggest entertainment opening weekend of 2015, and was the #1 console game globally for the calendar year. For the seventh consecutive year, Call of Duty was the #1 video game franchise in North America.

Nobody is more surprised than me to note: I just finished the single player campaign for Advanced Warfare. CoD + House of Cards was a really good combo for me. I have played the first episode of just about every CoD and BF and never gotten anywhere, this one just grabbed me and I ran through it in a few nights play time. Recommended! BF1 and Infinite Warfare next this fall! And now some Zombies and MP.

August 16, 2016 02:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Zombies dudes and dudettes rejoice. Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), and Infinity Ward today unveiled ‘Zombies in Spaceland,' the undead survival co-op mode launching on November 4 with Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare. Immersing players in an all-new 1980s setting with a most excellent soundtrack from the era, Zombies in Spaceland transports fans into an original, action-packed storyline where they'll fight as one of four classic ‘80s characters, and battle the living dead in a space-themed amusement park full of deadly zombies, fun attractions and much more.

The Zombies in Spaceland reveal trailer is live here:

"Call of Duty and zombies in particular has such an incredible history with passionate fans, which inspired us to take all the co-op action that has made the series so great and fuse it with one of our favorite decades in pop culture: the '80s," said Brian Bright, Project Director at Infinity Ward. "Zombies in Spaceland is an all-new zombies experience where day-glow meets fright nights. It's accessible for new players, but also has a deep layer of progression, brimming with easter eggs and various game features that will be a blast for hardcore zombies fans. We can't wait for fans to go hands-on this fall."

Zombies in Spaceland tells the story of four aspiring actors who come upon a mysterious movie theater for an audition. They've been invited by director Willard Wyler, portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee's Big Holiday, Gotham), who was once the shining star of the horror genre. Unbeknownst to the actors, they will be transformed into characters and transported straight into Wyler's film to fight against waves of zombies in a space-themed amusement park set in the ‘80s.

Fans play as one of four ‘80s archetypes: the jock, the nerd, the valley girl and the rapper. The characters are voiced by a seasoned cast of comedic actors, including Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad), Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, Ride Along) and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer). Additionally, players will encounter an enigmatic DJ in the theme park, portrayed with voice and likeness by David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch), who will be an invaluable resource as they try to get out of this horror movie alive.

Fans can learn more about Zombies in Spaceland by tuning in tomorrow, August 17 at 9:00am Pacific on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/callofduty, on YouTube at www.youtube.com/callofduty and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/callofduty for a special reveal stream hosted by actor Jay Pharoah as he speaks with the game developers in more detail.

Fans who pre-order any edition of the game will receive the totally rad "Zombies in Spaceland Pack" which consists of bonus in-game digital items, including a unique zombies weapon camo, zombies weapon reticle, animated zombies calling card and Fate & Fortune card pack. They'll also receive the reimagined, fan-favorite Terminal bonus multiplayer map.

At Call of Duty XP, the biggest Call of Duty fan event in history, fans will be able to play Zombies in Spaceland and engage in a special zombies laser tag experience. Call of Duty XP is just two and a half weeks away, taking place September 2 - 4 in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/090050C7F42A442C.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is scheduled for worldwide release on November 4th on PlayStation® 4 system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PC. An employee at Gamestop told me the total number of reserves for this one(among 3 stores in a 15 mile range) is just 43. Compared to the 570ish they had for Advanced Warfare just a couple years ago. That is a crazy drop in the COD series, I wonder if that is an indicator that the COD series is finally losing gamers interest? I might get this one, but will wait to see the reviews first.

Infinite Warfare looks completely uninteresting and Activision's out of their minds if they think people are going to pay $100 to get a copy of Advanced Warfare Remastered. I'm skipping this release and waiting for the inevitable solo release of Advanced Warfare Remastered on the PS store.

November 04, 2016 08:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- One of the most-anticipated releases of the year is here, as Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare is available now digitally and at global retailers worldwide. The new title from the #1 top-selling console franchise in North America for seven consecutive years, delivers a bold, new direction by exploring the weight of leadership in an emotional, character-driven narrative. In a first for the franchise, Infinite Warfare introduces an all-new story happening throughout our solar system, delivering gameplay innovations, such as space dog-fighting and zero-g combat, as well as seamless transitions from experience-to-experience keeping players constantly immersed in the action. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is published by Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. [NASDAQ: ATVI], and developed by Activision’s Infinity Ward.

In another first for Call of Duty®, Infinite Warfare also features the greatest bonus content in franchise history through the Legacy and Digital Deluxe Editions, which include Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® Remastered. A celebration of one of the most critically-acclaimed games in history, Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare®, the new remastered version has been completely enhanced for a new generation.

Infinite Warfare is hands-down the best story campaign we’ve had in years and is a leap forward in the fluid, fast-paced action that Call of Duty fans know and love,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “It’s a future war but an old school fight. And with a great multiplayer and an over-the-top zombies mode as well, we can't wait for our fans to start playing. The only question is which mode are you going to play first?”

Packed with an incredible amount of content and variety, Call of Duty continues to deliver something for all players across three unique modes of play in Infinite Warfare: an epic single-player story campaign that puts narrative front and center as players are taken on a classic journey with unforgettable characters; an all-new, 4-player cooperative zombies mode called ‘Zombies in Spaceland’ that takes players on a wild ride into a 1980s amusement park; and a deep and rewarding multiplayer mode with robust customization options to suit different play styles, including an all-new weapons crafting system, full esports integration and much more.

"This is a special year for us and for the Call of Duty community,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “We began three years ago with the goal to push ourselves in an all-new direction and take players to places they’ve never been before. In Infinite Warfare, we’re telling a classic war story of good vs. evil, and adding an epic backdrop that lets us introduce a ton of innovative gameplay. Our cooperative mode goes in a completely different direction that combines 1980s inspiration with a crazy, new zombie apocalypse. And, our online multiplayer takes everything that makes Call of Duty multiplayer so engaging, adds exciting Combat Rigs with their unique payloads and traits, introduces the challenge of Mission Teams, as well as the chase of prototype weapons, and then delivers a whole new level of gameplay customization that gives gamers all the tools to fit their unique playstyle.”

For the first time in franchise history, the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare story campaign unfolds seamlessly, creating one continuous and immersive experience, with more player agency and autonomy than ever before. In the campaign, fans play as Captain Reyes, a Tier 1 Special Operations soldier who takes the helm of the Retribution, one of Earth’s last remaining warships. Facing a ruthless insurgency led by Admiral Salen Kotch, portrayed by Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), and including the likes of MMA superstar Conor McGregor as Captain Bradley Fillion, Reyes must defend his home against this relentless enemy force. Along with the military, grounded combat that is hallmark to the series, the game allows players to pilot their own advanced jet fighter vehicle, known as the Jackal, in free-flying aerial battles both on Earth and in space.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the talented teams at Activision and Infinity Ward to ensure PlayStation continues to be the best place to play Call of Duty. We saw an incredible response to Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer beta last month, not to mention our 30-day early campaign access for Modern Warfare Remastered,” said Phil Rosenberg, SVP of Global Partner Development and Relations, Sony Interactive Entertainment America. “Today is the day PlayStation fans have been eagerly waiting for: Infinite Warfare, the return of a classic with Modern Warfare Remastered and the all-new PlayStation VR experience with Jackal Assault.”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer allows gamers to customize their play like never before, giving players more ways to optimize their weapons and gear to their style of play. Infinite Warfare introduces the most advanced tools of war: combat rigs, high-tech equipment, and unique prototype weapons. It’s an incredibly deep experience where everything – including weapons, gear, lethals and tacticals – has been built around different types of play styles, and where fans have the power to combine them however they want. The mode features unparalleled customization, combined with the fluid, momentum-based movement system of Call of Duty®: Black Ops III evolved to custom-fit the new combat, to create a frenetic gameplay experience where every second counts.

The multiplayer mode also introduces more ways than ever to earn rewards and upgrade weapons. For the first time in Call of Duty, the game features an all-new crafting system that allows fans to use Salvage, an in-game currency earned during play, to create Prototype weapons that come with special cosmetic and functional benefits called “Gun Perks.” Additionally, players can level up and acquire specific weapons through Mission Teams. Fans can join four distinct Mission Teams, each with its own personality, challenges and team commander, to earn exclusive rewards unique to that team.

In addition, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare debuts an all-new cooperative mode called ‘Zombies in Spaceland.’ The mode transports players into an original, action-packed storyline where they’ll fight as one of four classic ‘80s archetypes to battle the living dead in a space-themed amusement park full of deadly zombies, fun attractions and much more. The mode can be played solo or with up to three other players, and is easy for new fans to jump in right away.

Zombies in Spaceland features an all-star cast, starting with the evil villain of the story named Willard Wyler. Wyler is portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Gotham). Unbeknownst to the actors auditioning for Wyler, they will be transformed into characters on screen and sent straight into Wyler’s film. The playable characters are voiced by Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers) as “the nerd;” Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) as “the jock;” Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, Ride Along) as “the rapper;” and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer) as “the valley girl.” Players will also encounter an enigmatic DJ in the theme park, portrayed with voice and likeness by David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch), who will be an invaluable resource as they try to get out of this horror movie alive.

Also available is the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Season Pass, which can be purchased on its own or obtained as part of the Legacy Pro and Digital Deluxe editions of the game. Season Pass gives discounted access to four Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC Map Packs released during 2017 (discount based on a Season Pass suggested retail price of $49.99, and four individual DLC Map Packs at a suggested retail price of $15 each) that take innovative multiplayer mechanics to a variety of all-new, sensational environments. The DLC Map Packs will be available first on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and availability and release dates may vary by platform. Season Pass owners will also get four new terrifying zombie adventures featuring quirky environments and fearsome enemies. Additionally, as a special offer, Season Pass owners will receive 10 Rare Supply Drops and 1,000 bonus Salvage that fans can use to craft new Prototype weapons in multiplayer.

Additionally, available today to PlayStation®VR fans, at no cost, is the all-new Call of Duty PlayStation®VR experience "Jackal Assault," which immerses fans in the cockpit and puts them in control of a Jackal, the personal fighter jet in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Today’s release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also marks the kick-off of a new season of the Call of Duty: World League, with the first competition taking place at MLG Las Vegas December 16-18. Teams from all over the United States will compete for their chance to take home the first event title of the new CWL season and the winner's share of the $100,000 prize pool. The competition will be shown around the world via in-game on the Live Event Viewer (Infinite Warfare PS4) and MLG.TV, www.twitch.tv/callofduty and www.youtube.com/callofduty, as well as other distribution channels which will be announced soon.

In celebration of launch, top esports team OpTic Gaming has partnered with the Call of Duty Endowment for the “Race to Prestige,” an around-the-clock relay video game marathon to raise funds for placing veterans into high-quality jobs. Sponsored by Best Buy, the event that began yesterday and is streaming live at www.twitch.tv/callofduty will continue through November 7, 8:00am CDT. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Sabotage
Coming First to PlayStation®4 on January 31

First Epic DLC Map Pack Features a Brand New ‘90s Themed Zombies
Co-Op Mode “Rave in the Redwoods” and Four Unique Multiplayer Maps
Season Pass Available Now, Best Value for All Future DLC Map Packs

[December 20, 2016 01:00 PM Eastern Standard Time]

SANTA MONICA, Calif.-- Fresh Call of Duty content is coming, as Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), and Infinity Ward have released new details for the upcoming first DLC Map Pack for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Sabotage. Featuring four intense, new multiplayer maps, each with its own distinctive look and feel, and a new zombies co-op experience called Rave in the Redwoods, set in a ‘90s abandoned lakeside summer camp, Sabotage releases January 31, 2017 first on the PlayStation® Network for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, with other platforms to follow.

“We’re excited to introduce a new chapter to our zombies experience, taking players into a spooky 1990s summer camp straight out of the horror films of the decade,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “We’re also delivering four new, diverse multiplayer maps, including a remake of the Modern Warfare® 2 classic, Afghan. There’s a tremendous variety of new content that we think every player will enjoy.”

Rave in the Redwoods, the next thrilling chapter of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies experience, continues the macabre narrative while transporting players into a new decade: the 1990s. Willard Wyler, the enigmatic movie director villain, returns and has trapped the protagonists inside another one of his twisted horror films. The four playable characters from the original story also return, but with fresh, over-the-top roles, as they learn more about Wyler’s evil plot while fighting all-new varieties of the undead in an abandoned, lakeside summer camp where zombie ravers have taken over and turned the grounds into a techno-fueled illusion. Rave in the Redwoods is a tense, spooky thrill ride with shocking twists, surprises, and a slew of new Easter eggs for players to discover.

In addition to the Rave in the Redwoods zombies content, Sabotage will also include four new multiplayer maps:
  • Noir – A dark, grimy city map inspired by futuristic Brooklyn at night, Noir is a classic three-lane map set against a backdrop of a dystopian future, filled with cafes and parks surrounding a brutal downtown warzone.
  • Neon – A virtual training center designed for urban warfare, Neon is a unique, digitized battle arena where cars and other structures spawn out of thin air and enemies dissolve into hundreds of pixels when defeated. Middle lane sightlines will cater to long-range players while the outsides of the map allow for quick counter-attacks in close-quarter action.
  • Renaissance – Set in Northern Italy, Renaissance pits players against each other on the narrow streets of Venice surrounded by classic architecture and buildings that promote continuous action through the canals and neighborhoods of this iconic city.
  • Dominion – A re-imagining of the classic Afghan map from Modern Warfare 2, now set on Mars, Dominion retains all the memorable landmarks and gameplay of the original, anchored by the crashed ship in the center, with a few enhancements designed to take advantage of the new movement system.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Sabotage DLC Map Pack is available for a great value via the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Season Pass, which can be purchased on its own or obtained as part of the Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions of the game. Season Pass gives discounted access to all four Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC Map Packs released during 2017 (discount based on a Season Pass suggested retail price of $49.99, and four individual DLC Map Packs at a suggested retail price of $15 each). Season Pass owners will also receive 10 Rare Supply Drops upon purchase plus 1,000 bonus Salvage Credits to craft new prototype weapons.

From the Rave to the Grave: New Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Experience in Sabotage Takes You Back to the ‘90s

Kevin Smith joins the all-new Zombies experience in the Sabotage DLC Pack!
Excuses won’t work when you face hordes of zombies trying to end your existence in Rave in the Redwoods, the gnarly new Zombies experience included with Sabotage, the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

But fortunately for you, actor, director, podcaster and ‘90s icon Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) will be joining the fray to portray himself and lend you a hand.

Smith will lend both his likeness and voice to Rave in the Redwoods, Willard Wyler’s 1990s horror classic about an abandoned lakeside summer camp taken over by zombies in the midst of a techno-rave. That’s where he’ll interact with the returning cast of characters in all new roles: “the Hip Hop Wannabe,” “the Kandi Raver,” “the Grunge Rocker,” and “the Westside Gangsta.”

Along with Rave in the Redwoods, Sabotage includes four new multiplayer maps:
  • Dominion – A reimagining of the classic Afghan map from Modern Warfare 2, now set on Mars, Dominion retains the memorable landmarks and gameplay of the original, anchored by the crashed ship in the center, with a few enhancements designed to take advantage of the new movement system.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Sabotage will be released on January 31, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, with other platforms to follow.
