A friend of mine has the DVD "Video Essentials", date of manufacture is 1997. He's willing to send it to me (from the East coast). Is this disc too out of date? I was planning on buying the Ovation DVD to calibrate my HT system.

    Thanks,

Ah i am using the Avia disc to calibrate mine, The disc is outta date however the test tones and every calibration tool on it will work perfectly. Well least it has for me. Just they have nothing on 7.1-6.1 systems.

There is the newer Digital Video Essentials, which is in 16x9. I'd recommend this one or AVIA. They both have their pluses and minuses, which is why I have both.

So if I only want to buy 1, which do you recommend? And what's the price difference?

    Thanks!
