Calibrating the HT (1 Viewer)

I got my Radioshack SPL meter today, I'm wondering what position should I hold it in when calibrating my theater, i.e. where do I sit and where do I point the microphone?

Ideally mount it on a camera tripod. If you don't have one than hold it in your hand away from your body. The RS manual tells you to point it at the speaker. Some will say to point it 45 degrees up. Avia tells you to point it at the ceiling. That is what i do.
