I'm new to home audio/video, and was wondering if a brand new pair of speakers, or a brand new receiver would include the cables necessary for hooking up the speakers. Are they generally included, or do I need to order seperate cables? Thanks for the help.

Unless you are buying a all-in-one package, you will have to supply your own cables. No big deal. Head down to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase 12 gauge wire. It's not expensive. BTY - welcome

Cables are not usually included. Be aware that some retailers will try to sell you fancy cable (the profit margins are very large). Ignore them... Home Depot 12 gauge (or Radio Shack Gold series) will work fine for your system.
