    Hey guys,
    I am sure this is easy for most of you, but I am new [IMG]

    I have a DAV-FX500 setup. DVD looks & sounds great, it is connected to my TV via HDMI. My TV has 2 HDMI connections.
    My cable box is connected to the TV directly via HDMI cable. Audio out from the cable box is also running over HDMI. However, when viewing movies on cable that are in surround, I only hear it from the two front speakers, not even my center speaker. How do I get it to be surround even during cable movies?
    So it goes

    Cable --> hdmi --> TV
    TV aud out --> red&white cable (which may be why) --> Dream system TV IN
    Dream system DVD --> HDMI to TV (can only be used for DVD).

    Should I be using an optical digital audio cable from my TV out to my Dream system?

    DVDs sound awesome with this, but again, the cable is broadcasting in surround, but only coming out of two speakers. Please let me know what I need to do.

    Thanks,
    G

    Okay,
    I played with the sound field option on the remote control and now I can hear things in surround. Sounds good. Should I use the optical digital audio cable from the dream (receiver) box to the TV?

    Let me know, thanks [IMG]

    Yes, Digital Optical would be the best connection for you. You should be able to get a good optical for less than $20.
