I will be installing my first flat screen tv that I just purchased. I do not currently have a home theater, but will be purchasing one soon. When I wall mount the tv, I will be hiding the cables in the walls. What cables should I run now so I will have all future cables that are needed in place. (I do not want to take down my tv in the future because I forgot to run a certain cable.)

In the future I will be purchasing a receiver and full surround sound speakers, but I currently only have the plasma tv and blue ray dvd player.

Thanks!

If you plan on getting an up to date A/V receiver with sufficient amount of HDMI inputs, then you only need a single HDMI cable to the TV. If you wish to cover all bases, then run HDMI, component, S-video, composite, and a R/L audio RCA cable. Just don't spend 100's of dollars on the cables. Monster is a ripoff. I suggest BlueJeans, BetterCables or Monoprice for cables.

If you want to be 100% future proof, then you run a cable for every connection that is on the back of your TV. If you are running them in-wall, then you need to use CL3 (in-wall) rated cables.
