Everything was working fine untill I unplugged the cable modem last week. We have a Motorola 4100 Surfboard, and am using Optimum Online. All the lights are flashing green, including the Activity light, it claims the Ethernet Connection is functioning in the toolbar, at 100.0mb/s . But we're not able to send out ANY email or reach any web pages since it was unplugged.. I didn't change any settings either...

Any help will be appreciated..

Its been out since last week and you haven't called your ISP? Do a release and renew of the IP address.

Are you using a LinkSys Router? There is a known issue with some older LinkSys routers and Optimum Online's DHCP.

Try to renew the DHCP lease through the router, if you get a 0.0.0.0 address returned, then your router may be shot. At that point you can either upgrade the firmware or (sorry to say) get a new router.

If you're not plugged into a Linksys router, the issue is still probably DHCP related. If you're not plugged into any router (shame on you!) :) then the problem is either with DHCP or DNS on your PC. Can you ping sites by IP address? If you open a command window and type ipconfig what do you see listed as IP Address?
