I just pre-ordered my iPhone 11 Black 256GB for September 20th pickup at my local Apple Store!

They didn't have any 128GB phones available for 9-20 pickup at my local store so that kind of forced me into making a decision that will, ultimately, mean I am going to be tied to this phone for as long as I can be. [Which is fine by me, considering I am upgrading from a 6.]

    Thanks, Ron!

The dates for delivery to my home for any of the phones I was considering were in the September 30th to October 3rd range.

Oh. And I even got an early "check-in" time of 9:30 to 10am. The store opens at 10am.

Maybe that's an indication that this year's phone release isn't going over too well with customers?

The 10-10:30 window was gone. But most of the rest of the day's half-hour blocks seemed available.

    Mike,

You know I totally forgot you can reserve your phone online for pickup. That is how out-of-touch I am with going to the Apple Store.

I thought you were just planning to go there and get a phone.

Can you trade in your old phone through Apple? Did they give you a quote?

If not, there are many online services that you can trade your phone through. I can help you with that.

Congrats on your new phone, BTW. I think the 256GB will serve you well if you use it to store music that you can take on the go and play in your automobile. That's why I bought a 512GB. I have an enormous music library.

I'm more interested in the bigger storage for all the pictures I take, Ron. I've got zero music on my phone.

Any music listening I do is at home (on my HT) or in my car (I keep a flash drive of mp3s there).

Apple just gave me $60 on the iPhone 6.

And while I may have reserved the check-in window, etc. for the pick-up at the store on Friday...I am still expecting chaos. :D But I'll just look on it as one of those life's experiences I can tell a story about later!

It will be chaos, but the fact you have a reservation will help immensely.

I look forward to your war story after pickup on Friday. Good Luck, soldier!

I read the iMore iPhone 11 review and skimmed their Pro review. The devices sound great, and I'd be happy with the 11 I expect, especially given the savings.

I'm looking forward to them being at the Apple Store so I can have a look-see and play around.

I’m fascinated by the Night Mode photos in reviews! That might be enough to press me to upgrade, just that one feature.

I read the iPhone 11 review (several actually) and am now quite happy with my choice and can't wait for Friday morning to get here!

From reviews and podcasts, my takeaway is I’m not upgrading anything until I can do everything at iOS 13.1 and macOS Catalina. Everyone’s saying iOS 13 is buggy. And iOS 12 and 13 aren’t compatible for iCloud syncing in at least Reminders.

It all sounds like a bigger mess than usual. So I’m going to wait on the upgrades a bit more than I typically do.
