I went to a late afternoon screening on the first day (probably the second showing). The theater was completely empty except for me.

I saw many a 35mm midnight screenings in my high school and college years. Tried watching it at home once in the DVD era and just wasn’t the same. Honestly, I'm glad this exists, but I also can’t imagine a midnight screening without a couple decades’ worth of built in scratches and color fade.

They should include a scratchy, pink print transfer for the sheer nostalgia. Extra points if they can record the audience from a midnight screening.

I've only ever gone to a midnight show of Rocky Horror, but it was one of the most unforgettable theatrical experiences of my life.

There was an audience participation recording on the 25th anniversary DVD release. It was very much like what modern day screenings of RHPS have devolved to: chaos where everyone yells whatever pops into their heads at any given moment and you can't understand a word anyone is saying. I don't think I ever made it all the way through that audio track.

Takes me back to the mid 1970's when I was a projectionist at the Flatirons Theater up on the hill adjacent to the University Of Colorado Boulder campus.

We used to run this for weekend midnight shows on a fairly regular basis with most of the 1115 seats filled.

Seeing RHPS at a midnight screening nowadays isn't the same experience that it was back in the 70s and 80s. The talk back to the film was more of a give-and-take between the audience and the film. Susan Sarandon compared it to a mass ritual, which is an accurate description.

Audiences nowadays want to outdo each other in their "clever" responses and shout anything and everything at the screen, and it devolves into a mess.

What Disney could do is license the audio from the RHPS Say It! Audience Participation album, sync it up to the film and include it as a bonus feature on this edition.

But that's just wishful thinking on my part.

The 35th Anniversary Blu-ray of Rocky Horror is an excellent disc and incredibly sharp (and better than I have ever seen in a theatrical screening).

I think one would have to sit close to a very large home theater screen for a 4K to make a difference, as at a normal seating distance this is a really great disc.

Glad to see that the movie still gets so much love. Hope the upcoming 4K does well.

I think the Dolby Atmos track will be my interest in this one.

Considering the promised upcoming releases, Disney made a wise decision to release this movie in 4K.
{...}

As someone who owns this on digital, I must admit that I eagerly anticipate the upgrade to that format.
Me too, but I just hope they fix the issues that are present on the original Blu-ray release (were those ever fixed, btw?) Namely, the improper cropping of the lips in the opening titles and the missing blue tint in Brad's bedroom scene. There may have been some audio issues as well?

I believe that the audio for "Over at the Frankenstein Place" is from an alternate take. Sarandon's vocals differ.
