If you're talking about Manhattan, it will be hard to find the best prices because we don't have the big national chains (e.g., Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Costco) where people seem to find the cheapest prices. You may be able to do better in the suburbs or in other boroughs, but others will have to chime in with specific suggestions.

In Manhattan, the best overall prices are at J&R, which is downtown (not far from Ground Zero). The various Entertainment Outlet stores offer good buys from time to time, but it varies widely from title to title; the one I'm in most often is on 40th St. between 5th and 6th.

I would avoid the Virgin Megastore in Times Square, as well as Tower Records and HMV. None of them comes close to online pricing, except on an occasional sale item.

Besst Buy just opened a brand new store on

6th ave and 23rd Street.

I was there today and they have quite a selection on DVD's.

The grand opening was 2 or 3 days ago.

Have fun : >
