I understand your point Stephen.
Actually I just learned about this 3 weeks ago when I pulled my credit report through my credit union.
It was explained to me that there are 2 different types of credit history requests, hard and soft.
A hard inquiry hurts your credit and a soft request doesn't.

Sounded pretty logical to me.

You're both right. I was thinking about when I went to a few dealers looking for the best deal on my lease, and my score kept dropping each time!

Checking your own should have no effect.
