Hi.

I'm very interested in the Hitachi PJTX100, but I've read in a few places that Hitachi is keeping the US price inflated by ~ $1000, and it can be bought overseas for that much less.

Is this true?

Has anyone done this?

Is there a problem with electrical compatability when purchasing overseas?

Are there any recommended sources to buy from if this is possible?

Thanks!

Many electronic products can be had cheaper by purchasing overseas. You realize that, normally, the warrantee on a product bought overseas is only good overseas, and if it needs to repaired, shipping, both to and from Japan, is your responsibility. Shipping cost is pretty high too.

Yes, there can be electrical compatibility problems. The product may simply have a switch or, like in the case of my Pioneer LD-S9, I needed a transformer. They aren't that expensive.

You also have to consider the menu lanquage - is English one of the options?

Myself, I would never buy something like a projector overseas. Some people have won and saved a lot of money; others have had nothing but frustration. How much risk are you willing to assume? I like having a go-to person or company in the USA.

I used to know of a couple individuals who specialized in this sort of thing, but I have lost track of them.
