    I would like to know which of the following two options would be better for a good Home Theater setup in a 15" by 20" living room.

    OPTION A
    ==========
    1. Receiver - Yamaha Home Theater Receiver with Dolby
    Digital/DTS 6.1 and Pro Logic II/Neo:6
    Decoding - HTR-5490

    2. DVD Player - Toshiba DVD-Audio/Progressive-Scan DVD-
    Video Player Model: SD-4700 / or 5700

    3. Speakers - Undecided between Bose 15/Polk Audio

    OPTION B
    ==============
    Polk Audio DS7200 Home Theater System - including the DVD player

    I am budgeting for 2000-2500 USD.

    Appreciate all your help.

    -- Thanks in advance.

    I like the receiver, I have the RX-V530. Don't get the Bose. If you want small spearkers get the Polk RM-6600 or the RM-7200. The speaker set from the DS-7200. My two cents. Cheaper price than Bose and better sound.

    I'd suggest looking over the newcomer's guide that we've put together. (especially part IV) IMO, there are better bang/buck speakers than the ones you are considering. Some of the brands mentioned in the welcome guide are internet direct companies (i.e. middle man costs do not exist). This usually translates to great sound & low prices (a good thing). Welcome to the forum!

    Thanks for your response, Greg and Lowell.

    I have read the beginner'r primer and tried to do some research on good options within my budget.

    I am now thinking of the following setup:

    1. Receiver - YAMAHA RX V-1200 ($800 approx.)

    2. DVD Player - TOSHIBA SD5700 ($250 approx.)

    3. Speakers - POLK AUDIO RM 6600 ($650 approx.)

    Please let me know what you think and again, thanks for all your help.
