Hey I am planning on buying a 16:9 HDTV. I am looking at a 30 inch, maybe 34 inch, though 34 inch maybe too big. Anyway I was told to buy either a toshiba or a sony. I am looking to spend anywhere from $1000 to $2500. I am not a fan of projection and prefer tubes. I would post links to the TVs I am specifally looking at but since I am a new member I cannot until I have 15 posts. So can anybody give me good recommendations?

The models that I am looking at are:

Sony KV-30XBR910
30" FD Trinitron Wega™ XBR® HDTV-ready TV

Toshiba 34HF83
34" TheaterWide® HD HDTV-ready TV

But feel free to recommend any other models that might be a better buy. The Sony is 4 inches smaller but is $200 more and I am not sure why. Anybody know? So any help would be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to listen to a newbie.
:)

The 30” models by Samsung are very fine values. I do not think that they have quite the picture of either the Toshiba or Sony (I’ve not looked at the XBR910, but I have the XBR800).

Panasonic makes both 30” and 34” models that have very fine pictures.
