I am interested in getting a ButtKicker for my dad for our home theater but am confused with all the things they have on the site. We have 4 recliners set up facing a 90 something inch projection screen. right now we are thinking of getting the new wireless one coming out next friday but I am not sure what all we need to get. I think we want to start out by just putting it on one chair to see if we like it. What would be the best package to buy? I am looking at both the most affordable and the easiest to install. Thanks for your help

Have you ever experienced a tactile transducer? Most of use here don't really like to use them. The ones I felt were a little distracting. I'd rather have a sub large enough to give me a tactile sensation.

I haven't, but we have an 18" sub that can get real loud when we turn it up a little bit. I was just looking for something to add to the experience as it seems like a pretty neat idea. Also I saw how they are coming out with new technology to better interact with sports, racing, etc. that looked kinda cool. I figured if its used at Imax its gotta be pretty cool

Have you calibrated your system with test tones and an SPL meter? Plotted the in-room response of your sub and added an EQ to make sure it has a flat response? There are a LOT of things you can do to make sure you are getting the most from your audio and video before you should start looking into the "pretty cool" items.

I see that you have only been a member for 2 days. Stick around to read and learn. I've been a member for over 8 years and I am constantly learning new things.

I am not sure if thats been done, I am assuming the company that set it up did some of that though. We do not spend a ton of time in the room, just like to use it to sit and enjoy a movie or show or game. Also were not really audiophiles so we wouldnt notice small changes that you probably would. And yea i just joined when I was looking up info on the ButtKicker. Figured this would be the place to come.

This is one of the best forums. Others can get extremely technical. I'm not going to say the BK isn't bad but you should put a little time into your system first. It's not expensive. An SPL meter and calibration DVD is about $60. Plotting the sub's response uses the same SPL meter and test tones that you generate yourself for free. The spreadsheet for the plotting is free as well. Once that is done if you are still lacking then get you a few BK's.
